Procurement for Rook I

We are meeting Benefit Agreement commitments to maintain strong relationships with Local Priority Areas.  As part of our Benefit Agreement commitments, NexGen provides advance notice of business opportunities, competitive bid process, sole-source opportunities, business registries, and funds a business office.

In 2023, 82% of the Rook I site overall spend (which included construction, service, and supply contracts) was awarded to Local Priority Area-partnered or member-owned businesses.

Success Factors

  • NexGen's engagement philosophy: early, often, and lasting.
  • NexGen's procurement process for early opportunity notice on all construction, service, and supply contracts.
  • NexGen, Nations, and Economic Development Corporations are committed to an aspirational target of at least 30% of the Project’s overall external spend on business opportunities is awarded to Local Priority Area businesses.
  • Transparent communication through monthly business opportunity meetings with Nation Leadership and Economic Development groups, where data-driven updates are shared on all contracting statistics.
