Role Overview
Location
This position will be based at the Saskatoon office with some travel to the site and consultant office locations required. Travel to suppliers and fabricators of milling equipment packages is also required for inspections and factory acceptance tests. Site travel may commence once construction commences on uranium milling facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the process design for uranium processing circuits, reagents, and supporting utility systems as well as integration with water treatment systems from the existing studies through detailed design.
- Manage engineering design change management for the process designs.
- Collaborate with various engineering teams (internal and external) to ensure designs meet operational requirements and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with external engineering teams to continuously improve upon the existing SysCAD process simulations and models
- Review and approve engineering documents, specifications, and drawings, including but not exclusive to process design criteria, process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, process stream tables, and process and control narratives.
- Support the Area Managers by communicating with suppliers, contractors, and construction teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of services and products.
- Support the construction and commissioning teams, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Develop operational plans and procedures for the Rook I process systems
- Consult on maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and efficiency of process infrastructure.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, community groups, and project teams.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and site personnel.
- Ensure all processing activities adhere to radiation protection, HSE policies, and procedures
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mineral Process Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or a related field.
- Registration or ability to register as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) in Saskatchewan preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mining and processing industries with a specifically in hydrometallurgical processes including comminution, leaching, counter-current decantation, solvent extraction, precipitation, and concentrate product drying/calcining
- Experience in the uranium industry and knowledge of uranium milling unit operations is highly desirable.
- Experience with SysCAD process modelling is highly desirable.
- Experience in an operating environment is a strong asset
