Lead, Water Treatment

Role Overview
The individual appointed to this position will report directly to the Director, Metallurgy and Process Engineering. They will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of water treatment at the Rook I site. This includes the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and eventual operation of both the mine water treatment plant and the effluent treatment plant. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in the design and operation mine water treatment, and the ability to coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of water treatment processes that meet environmental and regulatory standards.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the continual development of the mine water treatment and effluent treatment using the BATTEA (Best Available Technology and Technique Economic Achievable) approach.
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of water treatment projects.
- Develop project schedules, scopes, and budgets for the mine water treatment plant and the effluent treatment plant.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Oversee the design and engineering processes for water treatment systems.
- Collaborate with various engineering teams to ensure designs meet operational requirements and regulatory standards.
- Review and approve engineering documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Manage the procurement process for water treatment equipment and materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and construction teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of services and products.
- Oversee the construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Develop operational plans and procedures for the water treatment plants.
- Ensure the effective commissioning and start-up of water treatment systems.
- Implement maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and efficiency of the water treatment infrastructure.
- Ensure all water treatment activities comply with environmental regulations and company policies.
- Monitor water quality and treatment processes, preparing and submitting reports to regulatory authorities as required.
- Develop and implement corrective actions in response to any compliance issues or operational challenges.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, community groups, and project teams.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and site personnel.
- Ensure all water treatment activities adhere to radiation protection, HSE policies, and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of water treatment facilities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mine water treatment, with at least five years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the mining industry, particularly in the uranium industry, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven management skills, including experience managing budgets and schedules.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a challenging environment.

Location
This position will be based at the Saskatoon office with travel to the site frequently.
